River Meets Delirium

"Are you lost too?"
"I'm waiting for my brother. He'll come. But he's not here yet."
"My brother is missing too. We can look for them together."
"They hurt us so much here."
"I know. I can help. Take my hand."

Imaginary conversation I thought of between River Tam from Firefly and Delirium from The Sandman. I was organizing papers at work and thinking of something else completely when I suddenly thought of how similar River and Delirium are. Inspiration always strikes me at the weirdest times.

Timeline of this picture: Thought of how it would make sense if River had met Delirium, some time in May 2015. Actually sketched out figures in July 2015. Started shading and detail work in late December 2015. Finished around New Year's Day 2016. Finally found time to post due to insomnia 1/23/16. Blerg. x_x

I was hoping to do a digital color version, especially after I messed up River's face (note to self: always sharpen pencils first), but that might take another ten years.
